A small family-run cafe with Vietnamese food on the road to Uluwatu
Vietnamese cuisine is famous for Pho noodle soup, spring rolls and the French heritage of a baguette sandwich and coffee for breakfast. Using lots of fresh vegetables and herbs, moderate use of specific spices and sauces, moderately spicy. The cooking here is not 100% authentic, but very close to the original as much as possible. The main thing is that it is tasty!
The menu is capacious, there is something to choose. There are no pictures in the menu itself, but inside the cafe there are photos of all dishes, so you can easily orient yourself. They cook pretty fast, the service is good and the staff is very friendly.
- For Vietnamese cuisine it is very important to use only fresh ingredients, it affects the original flavor of dishes. There is organized daily delivery of organic vegetables/fruits/greens from Bedugul, imported Australian beef (no pork) and homemade rice noodles (gluten free) are used. They are fried in coconut oil.
- good choice of drinks: Vietnamese-style coffee (use local coffee and Vietnamese way of preparation, original coffee is unreasonably expensive on the island), traditional medicinal drink from local herbs and roots Jamu (recommended to drink in the morning), different herbal teas (kettle press). Plus free water, there is a cooler inside the cafe.
- There are dishes for vegetarians and there is something to choose, not 2-3 dishes
- there are dishes of Thai and Indonesian cuisine.
The cafe itself is small, just a few tables outside and a couple of tables inside. But it is very cozy and pleasant, despite the fact that the cafe is next to the road. So if you are a fan of Asian cuisine, stop by here on your way to Uluwatu.
What to try?
1. Soups!!! Pho vietnamese noodle soup.
There are few places on the island where you can find a decent soup. Mostly spicy local or European cream soups.
Pho soup with homemade rice noodles, a choice of imported beef, chicken or vegetarian with vegetables. To the soup are brought separately different “additives” to taste. Of the soups on the menu there is also a vegetarian soup with tofu.
2. Spring rolls/spring rolls. A classic of Vietnam. Two kinds, “raw” with rice paper and fried on coconut oil, with a choice of different fillings. There are 2 rolls per serving.
3- Vegetable salad with green papaya and crushed peanuts/green papaya salad
4. Vietnamese style curry. With chicken or vegetable for vegetarians.
5. Desserts. Bananas in coconut milk or black rice pudding with mango. And here was found an unusual dessert Poffertjes - Dutch puffed pancakes, served with a ball of ice cream of your choice.
