The winners of this award are determined annually based on readers' votes and evaluations by regional experts. Organizers emphasize that Bali maintains its lead due to a rare combination of natural beauty, temple architecture, developed hotel infrastructure, and a rich cultural life.
According to Travel + Leisure, the island continues to be a versatile destination: the southern resort areas offer a wide choice of beaches, luxury hotels, restaurants, and clubs, while areas like Ubud are known as cultural and spiritual centres with traditional crafts, rituals, and festivals. Analysts highlight that Bali was able to quickly restore its tourist flow and even exceed pre-pandemic levels: last year, the island received over six million foreign guests, maintaining high ratings from tourists and the industry.

Other laureates on the list include Koh Samui in Thailand, Phu Quoc in Vietnam, and the Indonesian Sumba, the latter gaining popularity as a new destination for eco-friendly luxury tourism.
Alongside the Travel + Leisure award, in 2025, Bali once again topped the DestinAsian magazine Readers’ Choice Awards, becoming the best island in the Asia-Pacific region for the eighteenth consecutive year. This result further confirms the island's stable reputation among Asian audiences and international travelers.
In recent years, Bali has repeatedly received prestigious titles and confirmed its high level of tourist appeal. In 2024, Bali was recognized as the most romantic destination in the world by the World Travel Awards, surpassing the Maldives and Mauritius. Furthermore, Ubud, the cultural heart of the island, was ranked among the top 5 best cities in the world for travel by Travel + Leisure — further highlighting interest in the authentic sides of Bali and its inner regions.
These results show that Bali continues to maintain its position as one of the most attractive islands in the region, combining natural diversity, respect for traditions, and a high level of service that meets the demands of tourists from around the world.
