In 2025, tourism in Indonesia continues to grow steadily and once again becomes a key sector of the economy. During the financial year from September 2024 to August 2025, 14.85 million foreign tourists visited the country — a 12% increase from the previous year. Domestic trips reached 1.15 billion, an increase of nearly 22%. This indicates that the industry has not only fully recovered from the pandemic but has also reached a new level.

Tourism Minister Vidyanti Putri Wardhana noted: "It's important not only how many visits there are, but also that each trip contributes more to the economy and offers tourists a higher quality experience."
According to the migration service, from January to mid-October, 42.22 million people crossed Indonesia's border, 6.6% more than in the same period last year. Almost half of them were Indonesian citizens, with just over half being foreigners. More than 20 million people used autogates.
Tourists most often came to Indonesia from Malaysia, Australia, China, Singapore, and India. South Korea, Japan, the USA, the UK, and France also made the top ten. These numbers confirm that the country is strengthening its status as one of Asia's most attractive destinations.

According to preliminary data from the Central Statistics Bureau (BPS), in the first quarter of 2025, tourism's contribution to Indonesia's GDP was 3.9%. More than 25.8 million people are employed in this sector, making tourism one of the main sources of employment in Indonesia.
In 2024–2025, Indonesia won 143 international awards. Among them is the title of "Best Tourist Village" from the UN Tourism Office, 15 ASEAN awards, the inclusion of 33 Indonesian hotels in the Michelin Guide, and Bali being recognized as the "Best Island in Asia 2025" by Condé Nast Traveler.
