Sanur Shines in Indonesia’s Top 5 Wellness Destinations!

Spanning over 41 hectares, the Sanur SEZ received investments totaling 938 billion IDR in 2024 alone. Previously, more than 2.29 trillion IDR had been invested in Sanur’s development. The Sanur project is set to open in 2025, ( location )  offering world-class private medical and wellness services for tourists, expats, and Indonesian residents alike. The goal is to position Bali as a premier destination for international medical tourism.
One aim of the project is to create a place where tourists can receive necessary medical care and undergo recovery in a supportive environment. As part of this, The Sanur is focusing on wellness services and infrastructure, including shopping centers and entertainment facilities, ensuring guests have everything they need during their stay, no matter how long.
Construction of the Sanur SEZ began in December 2021, involving a team of over 2,800 builders. The Bali International Hospital was also built and is expected to welcome its first patients in early 2025. This facility will specialize in fields from oncology and cardiology to neurology, gastroenterology, and more.
Currently, most health-focused travelers to Bali seek dental services, affordable optical care, and cosmetics. The opening of The Sanur is expected to elevate Bali to a global luxury wellness destination. International clinics, private specialists, and therapists will also practice in Sanur, providing a comprehensive range of medical and wellness services for travelers.
The offerings announced by The Sanur include cell therapy clinics, aesthetic and plastic surgery centers, reproductive medicine clinics, eye clinics, and hair transplant facilities. Hotel staff will offer guests full support, coordinating the entire process—from airport pickup, comfortable accommodation, and doctor visits to recovery and rejuvenation.
The 41.26-hectare area is equipped with international-standard wellness and tourism facilities, including 4- and 5-star hotels, premium villas, an ethnobotanical park, an international conference center with a capacity for up to 5,000 people, and commercial areas supported by the latest technology.
The entire complex is located directly on Sanur Beach. The opening of The Sanur will not impact the existing hotels and resorts along the beach. New traffic management methods are also being discussed to ensure road safety for both tourists and local communities.
Sanur SEZ is committed to environmental preservation through wastewater treatment. The treatment facilities in Sanur are built with state-of-the-art technology to ensure sustainable practices.
