Garuda Indonesia came in 10th out of 100 airlines worldwide for the quality of its in-flight meals.
The ranking was put together by the Australian company Canstar based on passenger reviews. Garuda operates both domestic and international flights, and its menu features Indonesian dishes.
The Canstar ranking draws on an analysis of 125,849 passenger reviews from several platforms, including AirlineMeals.net and Skytrax. The data was collected in November 2025. Canstar then adjusted the scores to account for how many reviews each airline had received, so that the comparison would be fair. Only airlines with at least 50 reviews were included in the ranking.
Garuda Indonesia ended up with a score of 7.09 out of 10, placing 10th. First place went to Greece's Aegean Airlines with 7.82 points. The top ten also included Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, EVA Air, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, ANA, Japan Airlines and Kuwait Airways.
What Canstar measured was how passengers felt about the food served on board. The study took into account taste, presentation and how original the dishes were. The experts themselves did not sample any of the food.
Garuda Indonesia puts its emphasis on local cuisine. For passengers on domestic flights, that means familiar dishes even in the air, while for foreign travellers it is a chance to try something new from Indonesian cooking.
Commenting on the ranking, the airline's deputy chief executive Thomas Oentoro said that Garuda Indonesia will keep working on the quality of its in-flight meals. The main priorities will be food safety and making sure the food on offer matches passengers' tastes and needs.
