Sindhu Left (Tanjung Sari Left, Magic Wave, Jantuk) is a rare quality left in Sanur, a coast dominated by rights. The Sindhu area works well even on a small swell; surf contests have been held here (2022, 2025). It breaks a little further out than Sindhu Right, across the channel — a longer paddle, but a punchier wave. Easier than Hyatt Reef. A wave with two faces: on a small swell and high tide, a short soft wave for the local kids; on a big swell, a powerful, heavy barrel that breaks boards. The local name Jantuk ("forehead") fits — on a good swell the wave rises up into a thick overhanging lip before it throws.

The wave & conditions

On a small swell (below head-high) it's a short, fun left — enough for a turn or two. On a powerful swell it's a fast barrel machine: a steep take-off, heavy barrels top to bottom. Surf it closer to full tide — the bottom is hard. The lower the tide, the more intense it gets: at low tide on a big swell it's sharp, shallow and fast, for experienced surfers only. At high tide on a powerful swell the barrels are softer, the reef is further down and safer. The same swell hits Serangan too — you can use its forecast as a reference. Swell: S, SW. Offshore: NW. A wet-season wave.

Conditions & tips

Park at Pantai Sindhu; no boat needed — but it's a 300–400 metre paddle across the channel or over the reef. Harder than reaching Sindhu Right, as it breaks further out. There are rocks sticking up along the way out even at high tide. There's board rental on the beach. The reef is very shallow, and you're likely to hit it on a wave of any size. When the spot really switches on, boards break regularly: steep take-offs and wide barrels. Few people out, surfed with good etiquette — it never gets crowded.
Hazards: shallow sharp reef, powerful wave on a big swell, rocks on the way out to the lineup
