One of the best Japanese restaurants on the island!
Pros:
- Winner of the best Japanese restaurant category 2017
- A place with a great history and unique atmosphere. Located at the famous Tugu Hotel, next to Batu Bolong beach. A real museum of Chinese and ancient Balinese culture. The owner is one of the largest collectors of ancient artifacts in Indonesia, all decorations are real art objects and antiques: original statue of a god from the 18th century, outfit for the Chinese royal family of the last century, wood carvings on the walls and ceiling, lamps and street lamps, old prints. The oldest walls of the temple are restored and brought from the island of Java. The atmosphere is “up to goosebumps”, as if you were in a beautiful and mesmerizing Asian movie.
- three floors: the first floor is the most atmospheric - a closed restaurant in the style of a Chinese temple and a bar in the style of a Japanese kabuki theater (there is a private gazebo for 4-5 persons, you need a prior reservation), the second floor: an open terrace and a bar, on the third floor the best view in the bar “for sunsets” and a private gazebo-lodge for a romantic dinner with a gorgeous view (the gazebo is booked in advance a few days in advance, you need to spend from 1 million rupiah on food and drinks).
- The menu is created by a renowned chef who has worked at one of Gordon Ramsay's famous restaurants and is the former chef of the Beckham couple. Asian fusion with attention to healthy Japanese cuisine. Portions in Japanese cuisine are as “neat” as ever. Unique drinks list: Coco Sexo specialty cocktail with original serving reminiscent of one of the smoking Balinese volcanoes, unusual mix of Javanese tea gin and local herbs, worthy choice of Japanese sake. For lunch from 12-16 they offer popular bento lunches (5 kinds) at a fixed price - 110k + 25% discount on drinks. Sunset happy hour from 17-18 (except Sunday), 30% off cocktails and beer. Vegetarian dishes are marked with a special V sign.
- DJ plays at sunset on Saturday and Sunday
- own free parking lot with security guard, located in the alley on the right side of the building
- no strict dress code, shorts and flip-flops are allowed, but dressing up is recommended.
Cons:
- 16% dachshunds
What to try?
1. Dragon of Ji - 8 rolls with shrimp-tempura and avocado, moderately spicy. A spectacular “dragon” serving.
2. Tic Tak Toe - assortment of different kinds of sushi with fish, 9 pieces per serving.
3. Grilled salmon with eggplant - marinated and grilled salmon with vegetables.
4. Surprisingly for a Japanese restaurant there is a big choice of desserts, a mix of European classics and Asian traditions. Sweet Bento Box - a sweet set of 6 desserts.
