Bali police appear to have grown tired of frequent reports from foreigners who, after wild nights out in tourist areas, become easy targets for criminals. So they have decided to take preventative action.

The areas around the most popular bars will now be under strict police control. Badung police have launched regular large-scale raids. Every Saturday, when activity on the nightlife streets reaches its peak, dozens of officers will go on night duty.
The police are focusing on the busiest and, unfortunately, most crime-prone areas: Batu Bolong and Berawa streets, where the main bars and nightclubs are concentrated. They will also monitor 24-hour minimarkets, ATMs, petrol stations and dark areas near villa complexes in Canggu, Tibubeneng, Dalung and throughout Kerobokan.
Officers will work to prevent fights and thefts, and to identify jambret — thieves who snatch bags and phones from people on the move.
North Kuta Police Chief Commissioner I Ketut Sukadana, who personally led the latest raids, is confident that the impact of the patrols will soon be noticeable.
“We are present on the streets 24 hours a day. With these large-scale patrols, we want to cut off opportunities for criminals: motorbike thieves, pickpockets and jambret who deliberately target tourists. Any security violations will be dealt with to the full extent of the law!”
During the recent raids, officers did not simply patrol the streets; they also actively spoke with local residents, villa security guards and pecalang, urging everyone to stay vigilant.
Bored Gojek and Grab drivers also received a reminder. Police reminded online taxi drivers of the basic rules: wear SNI-standard helmets, do not carry two passengers at once, and always have their documents with them.
And to prevent transport chaos after parties, patrol officers will also be responsible for managing traffic when major clubs close.
“We confirm that these joint patrols will be carried out regularly, especially on Saturday evenings. Our goal is for the North Kuta area to remain a safe and peaceful international destination,” the commissioner concluded.
