Extra Night Patrols Planned for Bali’s Busiest Destinations

Bali Police have said they will step up efforts to tackle street robberies, theft and attacks on the roads. They promise to focus especially on late night and early morning, when such crimes happen more often.
This includes street assaults, snatching of bags and phones, motorbike theft, robberies near homes, shops and car parks, as well as on poorly lit roads.

According to the police, rapid response teams are already operating in every regency in Bali. They are expected to respond more quickly to reports from residents, patrol problem streets and check locations where crimes are reported more often.
Night patrols will include officers responsible for public order, criminal investigation and local police posts. The police will also draw up maps of higher-risk areas and update them with data from new incidents.
The first reinforced patrols have already taken place in Denpasar, Kuta, South Kuta and the area around Ngurah Rai Airport. In Kuta, police checked main streets and tourist areas, including Kuta Beach, Legian, Sunset Road and Seminyak.
Residents and business owners are being asked to install cameras outside homes and shops and in shared areas. The footage helps police identify suspects after thefts, assaults and vehicle theft.
Tourists and foreigners living in Bali are advised not to hold their phones in their hands by the roadside, not to wear a bag on the side facing the road, and not to ride through empty streets at night unless necessary.
If an attack has already happened, you should contact the nearest police station straight away. In an emergency, you can call 110.
