The management company PT Jasamarga Bali Tol has announced that the Bali Mandara Toll Road will be temporarily closed for 32 hours in observance of Nyepi (Day of Silence) on March 29, 2025. This is a standard practice, as the road is regularly closed during Nyepi each year.
The road will be inaccessible starting Friday, March 28 at 11:00 PM and will reopen on Sunday, March 30 at 7:00 AM. The closure is a gesture of respect for the sacred day of Nyepi and is intended to support the observance of the holiday in an atmosphere of reflection and spiritual significance.
While the road will be closed to the general public, emergency services will still be permitted to pass in case of critical situations. Fire trucks, ambulances, and other essential services will be allowed through, accompanied by pecalang (Balinese security officers) or police escorts.
During Nyepi, the airport will also be closed — there will be no flights to or from Bali on March 29. Ferry crossings will also be suspended.
The operator of the Bali Mandara Toll Road has also announced that it is preparing strategies to prevent traffic congestion during the extended holiday period, which will include both Nyepi and the Idul Fitri celebration. Peak traffic is expected on Friday, April 4, 2025, with an estimated 52,830 vehicles and motorbikes expected to use the toll road.
