A routine Garuda Indonesia flight from Jakarta to Melbourne on June 6 turned into a mystery with an unexpected twist. During the flight, a passenger noticed the disappearance of an iPhone and reported it to the crew. The flight attendants searched the cabin, checked the seats and aisles, but the phone seemed to have vanished.

After landing, the passenger used the 'Find iPhone' feature and saw that the device was at a hotel in Melbourne, precisely where the Garuda Indonesia crew was staying. Soon the signal disappeared — it turned out later that the phone was thrown into the river.
The passenger filed a police report. The story quickly spread on social media, casting doubt on the safety of personal belongings onboard and trust in the crew. Years of reputation were jeopardized by a single incident.
Garuda Indonesia found itself at the center of a scandal. The airline apologized, initiated an internal investigation, and temporarily suspended the entire flight crew. The Commercial Director, Ade Susardi, assured that the carrier is cooperating with authorities and providing assistance to the affected passenger.
