Bali police reported the arrest of 24-year-old Kazakh citizen Yuri Kh. at the airport’s international terminal. During a baggage check, officers became suspicious of a green suitcase belonging to a passenger who had arrived on a LOT Polish Airlines flight from Istanbul. Inside, they found eight packets of white powder.

According to police, the seized drugs weighed 2,544.1 grams net. The shipment was valued at 17.808 billion Indonesian rupiah. The cocaine was hidden in the inner rear wall of the suitcase.
It was the detainee’s first trip to Bali. His visa was valid until 9 May 2026. During questioning, he said he was carrying the suitcase at the request of a man named Igor, whom he met in Poland. Police are now searching for this man.
Investigators say the messages about the transport began on 27 February 2026 on Telegram. On 25 March, the man was offered to deliver the suitcase to Bali, and on 9 April he picked it up near Warsaw Airport. Police say he was promised $1,000 for the trip, with $200 paid in advance. In addition, his return flights and seven nights’ accommodation in Canggu were covered.
After arrival, the suitcase was supposed to be collected by another person, who planned to contact the courier via a messaging app. In addition to the cocaine, police seized the suitcase itself, the boarding pass, and two phones — an iPhone 14 and an iPhone XR.
The suspect has been charged under Article 609(2)(a) of the Indonesian Criminal Code, together with Law No. 1 of 2026 on adjustments to criminal penalties. According to police, the maximum penalty under these provisions is life imprisonment or up to 20 years in prison.
Police believe this involves an international drug trafficking network and continue to look for other people involved.
