An incident involving a foreign tourist occurred on Raya Pengosekan Street in Ubud. According to Gianyar police, 22-year-old British citizen Liam Orme assaulted a local resident after being reprimanded for a dangerous maneuver on a Honda CBR bike.

According to the investigation, Orme, while performing a wheelie trick, almost hit a pedestrian. After the man’s warning, the tourist became angry, chased him to the entrance of a Circle K store, and struck him twice. The victim was left with a laceration on his cheek and a nosebleed. He sought medical help at Sanjivani Hospital and filed a police report.
Police confiscated the suspect’s passport, a Honda motorcycle, and a helmet as evidence. It is known that Liam Orme was involved in boxing in the UK. At the time of the incident, he was in Bali as a tourist.
“He was a boxer in England and a tourist in Bali. We will not deport him, but we will conduct a criminal investigation,” said Gianyar police chief AKBP Umar. According to him, any violent actions entail legal responsibility.
Liam Orme is facing charges under Article 351, Part 2 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (intentional infliction of bodily harm). The maximum penalty for this article is up to 5 years in prison.
Liam Orme previously encountered legal issues in the UK. In September 2023, he was convicted by the Bristol court for reckless driving, assault, and threats. The police describe Orme as a person with an athletic build and 'a sharp look as if he wants to kill anyone he sees.'
