The Bali authorities are investing in new surveillance cameras to enhance road safety. This decision comes after a series of fatal accidents and an increase in incidents in popular tourist areas.

The first new cameras will be installed in dangerous sections of the Buleleng district in the north of the island. It's already known that they will be set up along the Singaraja–Denpasar highway. According to the head of the local communications service, Ketut Suwarmawa, preparations for installation are in full swing. He noted that cameras will be installed where there is access to the internet, electricity, and infrastructure for setting up poles.
Currently, cameras are operational at six problem areas in Buleleng. Several more are planned. The cost of a single unit is between 30 and 60 million rupiahs.
The urgent measures were prompted by a tragedy on April 26, 2025: on the Singaraja-Denpasar highway, a brother and sister — 20-year-old Gede Krisna Ari Putra and 8-year-old Komang Karna Angga Wijaya — lost their lives. Their motorbike collided with a tourist bus.
In the south of the island, the police have also stepped up control. From May 1 to 3, in the Badung district, a large-scale operation was conducted against violators. Drivers were checked without licenses and documents, as well as owners of illegally modified motorcycles. The result was 81 violation protocols and 56 vehicles confiscated.
