The road safety operation «Keselamatan Agung 2026» in Bali has ended. In Badung Regency, it ran from 2 to 15 February: the police promised tighter checks in tourist areas, on high-risk stretches of road, and at chronic congestion hotspots. This included areas where a new traffic scheme is in place.

The focus was on offences that most often lead to serious accidents (no helmet or seatbelt, using a phone while driving, dangerous manoeuvres, driving under the influence, etc.).
In Denpasar, 1,474 traffic offences were recorded. Of these, 1,255 were captured by automatic enforcement cameras, and another 219 were issued by an officer on the spot. Police separately noted 14 foreigners among the offenders. In addition to fines, drivers were issued 562 warnings for “minor” offences as a preventive measure.
Over the same 13 days across the whole island, Bali Regional Police reported 4,936 offences detected by cameras, 7,544 written warnings, and 241 road traffic accidents.
Separate figures were also published for other areas. For example, in Badung over 13 days the police reported 301 offences that were acted on (both via cameras and after stopping drivers), as well as 396 written warnings and 31 accidents during the operation. In Bangli, the police listed 1,051 offences: 420 fines via cameras and 631 warnings. In Buleleng, they reported 1,472 cases: 500 offences via cameras, 27 fines issued by officers on the spot, and a further 945 warnings.
Checks for the correct category of driving licence may continue even after the operation ends. If you haven’t yet obtained an Indonesian driving licence, we recommend contacting Legal Indonesia — they can help you get one.
