Bali Named One of Asia’s Top 5 Most Return-Worthy Destinations

Bali has reaffirmed its status as an island that draws visitors back time and again. According to Agoda, the largest online booking platform, in the first half of 2025, Bali ranked fourth among Asian destinations with the highest number of repeat visits. Bangkok, Tokyo, and Seoul took the first three spots, with Osaka in Japan rounding out the top five.

Agoda's head in Indonesia, Gede Gunawan, noted: "Often a single trip is not enough, especially when it comes to such a unique place as Bali. Nature, culture, tropical atmosphere, and new attractions continue to attract tourists from all over the world."
The situation is particularly noticeable in Sanur. The owner of the Griya Santrian Sanur hotel and chairman of the Denpasar Hotels and Restaurants Association, Ida Bagus Gede Agung Sidharta Putra, said: "About 60% of our guests come back repeatedly. Some have stayed with us five times, thirty times, and the record is 84 times."
Most often, these are tourists from Europe and Australia who prefer long stays in Bali. Europeans typically book two-week tours, while Australians tend to visit for a week. This is due to logistics: Europeans aim to maximize their vacation after a long flight, while Australians can afford to visit more frequently due to the island's proximity and the availability of last-minute deals.
From January to May 2025, 2.64 million foreign guests have already visited the island, which is 13.6% more than in the same period of 2024. It is expected that by the end of the year, the number of international visitors will exceed 6.5 million. Australia remains the leader in terms of the number of visitors. There has also been a significant increase in tourists from India, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
Apart from Bali, other destinations in Indonesia are also highly valued: Jakarta, Batam, Lombok, and Bandung. Each offers its own unique experience—from the atmosphere of a metropolis and tax-free shopping to surfing, culinary discoveries, and walks through natural landscapes.
