Bali Takes Third Place Among Asia’s Most Revisited Destinations

For the first time, the island took third place in Agoda's ranking of repeat trips, moving up one position compared with last year. The ranking was based on booking data for the first half of 2026, measured against the same period in 2025.

Tokyo took first place, followed by Bangkok in second. Bali ranked third, ahead of Seoul and Osaka. The top ten also included Da Nang, Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei, and Johor Bahru.
For this ranking, Agoda looks not simply at how popular a destination is, but at how often travellers come back to it. Tourists may return for favourite spots, for new experiences, or simply for a familiar atmosphere.
Agoda links Bali's appeal to the fact that a holiday here can be so varied. You can sunbathe on the beaches, enjoy nature, or explore the culture. A considerable share of travellers are drawn by the practices that Bali offers in abundance: from meditation to melukat and healing. The growth of new tourism offerings is also cited as one of the factors that can encourage travellers to come back.
Meanwhile, overall tourist numbers in Bali continue to grow. According to the local statistics agency (BPS), 697,809 foreign tourists arrived on the island in July 2026 — 15.34% more than the month before.
Other Indonesian destinations also featured in Agoda's ranking. Jakarta took 25th place, Batam 27th, and Lombok 41st, climbing three positions at once. Among the reasons for its appeal, Agoda points to its natural attractions and the development of the Mandalika tourist zone.
