A large marathon is set to take place in Bali soon, and just recently, the Gran Fondo New York Bali 2025 international cycling race came to an end. The event attracted over a thousand cyclists, including 200 foreign riders from 45 countries.
This year, GFNY Bali became even more prestigious, as it now serves as the Asian Championship. The winners of the main categories automatically earned the title of Asian Champion 2025. They also secured a spot in the GFNY 2025 World Championship in New York, a VVIP start position in future races, and valuable prizes from the organizers.
To ensure a smooth race, the event was supported by 770 police officers, as well as a team of medics, mechanics, and marshals. The race began at 6:00 AM from the Red Bridge in Klungkung, and participants could choose between two routes:
• Gran Fondo – 134 km
• Medio Fondo – 94 km
Regardless of the chosen route, the course remained challenging, featuring steep elevation changes, climbs through Kintamani, and hilly terrain in Bangli. However, the breathtaking landscapes of Bali helped compensate for the race’s difficulty.
Winners & Results
Although many Indonesian athletes took part in the race, they were unable to claim podium positions. The winner in the men’s category was Will Mitchell from the UK, who completed the race in 3 hours and 40 minutes. Dutch cyclists secured second and third place.
Perhaps Indonesian riders will have a chance to claim victory in the next GFNY Bali race, scheduled for June 2026.
