Bali Airport Hits Record: 76K Daily Visitors in July

According to the airport management, an average of 76,005 people arrived and departed daily. For comparison, from January to June 2025, the average was 63,117 passengers per day. In July, international flights were nearly fully booked, while domestic aviation facilitated a high flow of holidaymakers from Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, and other cities.
The flow was divided as follows:
  • Domestic flights – 891,466 people over the month (38% of the total);
  • International flights – 1,464,677 people (62%).
This means that more than 47,000 people passed through the international terminal daily.
Along with passenger traffic, runway usage increased. In July, the airport accommodated 13,127 flights. Of these, 6,070 were domestic and 7,057 international. This averages to 423 flights a day. For comparison, in the first half of the year, there were 380 flights daily.
The main factor for this surge was the holiday season. In July, school holidays in Indonesia coincided with summer holidays in Europe, Australia, the USA, and several Asian countries. As a result, Bali was at the peak of tourist demand.
Even traditionally busy periods for the airport's infrastructure, like New Year’s holidays, couldn't surpass July. In January and April, during long weekends, the airport recorded between 62,000 to 72,000 people daily. In July, it was consistently over 76,000.
The record flow is resulting in increased pressure on all services: from passport control and security to baggage handling and transfers. During this period, the administration received complaints from tourists about queues, but the airport managed to handle the passenger flow even during peak hours.
According to tour operators, August will be only slightly less busy than July, and by September, the flow will begin to decrease, yet still remain above average levels. This means Bali has a chance to end the year with a new historic record for tourist flow.
For now, July 2025 will be remembered in Ngurah Rai’s statistics as the month when Bali was accommodating aircraft every few minutes, with a daily influx of people comparable to the population of a small Indonesian city.
