Ngurah Rai Airport Handles 2.3 Million Travelers in August

This August was another record-breaking month for the international I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, slightly trailing behind July. Over the course of 31 days, the airport serviced more than 2.3 million passengers, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

The majority of passengers — about 63% — were foreign tourists, confirming Bali's status as one of the most sought-after international destinations. Throughout the month, the airport handled 2,334,879 passengers, comprising 1,471,378 international and 863,501 domestic tourists. The average daily passenger count was 75,000. The peak day fell on August 1st, with nearly 80,000 travelers passing through the terminals.
Growth is also evident in the aviation sector. A total of 12,893 flights (takeoffs and landings) were registered in August, of which 6,889 were international and 6,004 were domestic flights. This indicates a 1.6% increase from August 2024 figures. The peak in flights occurred on August 8th, with 440 takeoffs and landings.
Since the beginning of the year (from January to August), the airport has serviced 16.1 million passengers, over 10 million of whom were foreigners. During this period, 94,911 flights were carried out — 52,000 international and 42,000 domestic.
The airport's CEO, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, described the results as a positive sign but emphasized that it is simultaneously a challenge to maintain service quality.
One of the innovations is the implementation of the All Indonesia system for registering international passengers, which will record all data through a single application or website. The system will simplify document checks and reduce waiting times at control.
Ahmad Syaugi noted that the implementation of All Indonesia is particularly important because 63% of Ngurah Rai passengers are foreigners, and it will improve interaction with immigration, customs, and quarantine services.
