Where to Escape the Crowds in Bali for a Peaceful Getaway

Where to go in Bali to escape the hustle and bustle Bali is an island of adventures, temples, surfing, and endless routes. But in the pursuit of experiences, it's easy to forget that a holiday is also about relaxation. For those who want to recharge rather than get even more exhausted than at home, Bali offers plenty of quiet spots where you can unwind, breathe deeply, and just be. If you're looking for peace, the most suitable places may not be those that flash on Instagram and in tourist guides.

The east of the island is still less popular, but that's where true gems hide. One such place is Bukit Asah in Bugbug village, Karangasem regency. It's a small viewing point with panoramic views of the ocean, green hills, and rocky shores. Everything is kept clean and tidy thanks to the efforts of the local community. You won't find crowds here, but there will be the ocean, wind, sky, and silence.

In the same regency are the beaches Amed, Tulamben, and Candidasa, ideal for those who want to get away from the noise of Canggu or Uluwatu. Here, you can enjoy the sea without traffic, parties, and the hectic pace of city life. You can also dive not only into yourself, enjoying the silence and solitude, but also literally into the sea floor by embarking on a thrilling diving adventure.
If you love beach holidays but seek peace and solitude, then head to Nunggalan Beach in Pecatu. It's a true hidden gem on the Bukit Peninsula. You need to walk about 30 minutes down to the beach. The path isn't the easiest, but the reward is white sand, the blue ocean, and almost no people. Bring water, a snack, a book — and enjoy. It’s especially nice that the entry to Nunggalan is completely free. And although it often seems like you need to pay for true relaxation in Bali at luxurious spas and villas, such places remind you that the best things are free.

Want silence as far as the eye can see? Then head to the Tianyar Savannah. A few years ago, this place went viral on social media, but today few people know about it again. The vast grassy plains with views of volcanoes are the perfect place to lie in the grass, gaze at the clouds, and forget everything. Here, you can't hear engines, see hotels, or find intrusive services. And of course, entry is free.

Another place where you can feel the true Bali is Lake Batur, located at the foot of the Batur Volcano. Despite the active development of Kintamani — a town overlooking the lake — the shoreline remains a place of peace. Walking along the water, meditation, breathing practices, or just a moment of silence — all this brings you back to yourself and to nature. Sometimes, it's really worth stepping off the beaten path to hear how Bali sounds without words.
