The man was in the water with a group. At that moment, a snorkelling boat passed through the same area. After the impact, he sank below the surface. One of the boat’s passengers helped bring him back up.
He was taken to Toyapakeh Port on Nusa Penida and then to the Nusa Medical Clinic. Doctors performed CPR for about an hour, but he could not be saved. His body was then transferred to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar.
An initial examination found bruising to the lower right side of the chest, a fracture of the right leg, and a laceration on the right thigh. Police are continuing their investigation, questioning witnesses and people connected to the boat. The inquiry is expected to establish exactly what happened and the crew’s role.
Tanjung Pakaang is located off Nusa Lembongan. The area is popular with tourists: snorkelling and diving boats operate here, water routes pass through, and people often swim. These overlaps are one of the main risks in this area.
