Four foreign tourists and their guide jumped from it into the water. No one was killed, but the captain suffered burns to his legs.
The Naomi left its base on 29 October at around 12:30. The tourists were on a private tour with three snorkelling stops: Manta Bay, Crystal Bay and Gamat Bay. At around 13:40, as the boat was preparing to leave Gamat, there was a loud explosion in the battery compartment and a fire broke out.
At around 14:50, a passing boat picked up everyone who was in the water. The captain is being treated at Gema Santhi Hospital (RSUD Gema Santhi) on Nusa Penida.
Before the fire, the boat had undergone repairs and scheduled maintenance. According to the guide, both the boat’s condition and the safety equipment were checked before departure.
