The Balinese climatology station reported that in 2025 the start of the dry season (Ind. kemarau) will occur from April to May. The forecast is based on updated climate data using the latest climate norm period, specifically from 1991 to 2020. Based on this data, Bali has 20 climatic zones.
It is reported that the dry season in Bali began in April for 10 of the 20 climatic zones, while in the rest, the dry season will start in May.
In the first decade of April, areas where the dry season began included the eastern part of Karangasem and Nusa Penida. In the second decade of April, they were joined by the western part of Jembrana, western and northern Buleleng, southern Gianyar, southern Klungkung, and southern Karangasem. In the third decade of the month, the dry season will begin in the northern and eastern parts of Buleleng, northern and central Karangasem, northern and eastern Bangli, southern Gianyar, central Tabanan, Denpasar, as well as in central and southern Badung.
In the first decade of May, the dry season will begin in most of the Jembrana district, central Buleleng, western and central Tabanan, northern and central Bangli, central Gianyar, and southern Karangasem. Then in the second decade - central and southern Buleleng district, northern Tabanan, northern Badung, northern Gianyar, western Karangasem, and southern Bangli.
In 12 out of 20 zones, there will be a dry season with normal rainfall, covering most of Jembrana, western and central Buleleng, northern and southern parts of Bangli, eastern, central, western, and southern parts of Karangasem, central Tabanan, central and southern parts of Gianyar, central and southern parts of Badung, southern part of Klungkung, and Nusa Penida.
In six regions of the island, more rainfall than usual is expected, including northern, central, eastern, and southern parts of Buleleng, northern Tabanan, northern Badung, northern Gianyar, northern Karangasem, as well as northern and eastern Bangli.
The peak of the dry season in 2025 is predicted to be in July 2025 (1 zone) and August 2025 (19 zones). Authorities, organizations, and local residents are already occupied with preparation: developing measures to prevent fires and shortages of drinking water.
