On 7 June, the tourist village of Penglipuran in Bangli Regency will host the Penglipu-Run Fun Run 2026. It’s a short 5 km run for those who want to combine sport with a trip to one of Bali’s best-known villages.

The route will run within the village. The start is planned for the southern part of Penglipuran, by Tugu Pahlawan, a heroes’ monument. Participants will then run through the village, enter the bamboo forest, and return to the main tourist area.
The organisers are expecting around 500 participants. The run is open not only to Bali residents, but also to tourists, both Indonesian and international. The programme promises not only the route itself, but also additional activities in the bamboo forest area.
For Penglipuran, this is an attempt to add another focus to the village’s familiar image: wellness and recovery tourism. People usually come here for the atmosphere of a traditional Balinese village, its tidy streets, houses in a consistent style, and the bamboo forest. Now they also want to use the same location for sporting events.
Penglipuran has long been promoted as an example of sustainable village tourism in Bali. In 2023, the village was included in the UN World Tourism Organization’s Best Tourism Villages list. The bamboo forest covers about 45 hectares and is considered one of the main parts of the tourist route.
If the event is successful, they want to make Penglipu-Run an annual event. The organisers post registration details on the official Desa Wisata Penglipuran social media accounts.
