Jatiluwih Terraces to Host Bali’s Sustainable Run

Bali is preparing the Jatiluwih Fun Run 2026 — a run through the Jatiluwih rice terraces in Tabanan. It is planned for 20 June 2026.

The route will pass through one of the island’s most famous locations. The Jatiluwih rice terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage site and have long been one of the symbols of “green” Bali.
Participants will be offered two distances — 5 km and 10 km. The format is not just for athletes: you can race for time or simply complete the course at your own pace.
The authorities want the run to be the first event in a wider sports tourism programme in Bali. They decided to start with Jatiluwih, and similar events may later be held in other parts of the island.
There will be a special focus on the environment. The organisers want to avoid single-use plastic at the event. They are discussing medals made from recycled materials, including waste from paper currency, with support from the Bali representative office of Bank Indonesia.
They also want to involve local small businesses: food vendors, craftspeople, and small projects from nearby villages. Registration is planned to open in May 2026.
