Pelita Air Launches Singapore Flights This December

The Indonesian state airline Pelita Air announced the launch of its first international route — from Jakarta to Singapore. The debut flight is planned for December 2025, marking an important milestone for the carrier, which has operated domestically for almost six decades.

Pelita's planes will be received at the fourth terminal of Changi Airport. The company will take over check-in counters vacated by Jetstar Asia, and the ground services — catering, check-in, and baggage — will be provided by the Singaporean operator SATS.
Jetstar Asia will cease operations on July 31, 2025, shutting down 16 regional routes. The carrier cites a sharp rise in costs and increased competition; parent company Qantas deemed the project economically unsustainable.
The next step for Pelita will be a flight to Bangkok: the line is scheduled to launch in 2026 and should strengthen the company’s position in the ASEAN travel market.
Founded in 1970 as the aviation division of Pertamina, Pelita has long been engaged in charter and cargo transportation. After the relaunch of regular flights in 2022, the airline operates 21 Airbus A320s and serves 13 Indonesian cities.
Ticket sales are expected to begin in the fall after obtaining final approvals.
