Nusa Penida Goes Cashless: Pay Tourist Fees & Tickets Digitally!

From July 21, an updated system for paying tourist fees and tickets has been in effect on the islands of Nusa Penida, Lembongan, and Ceningan. The authorities now request that these payments be made primarily by bank cards.

The changes took effect after the signing of a cooperation agreement between Klungkung District, BPD Bali Bank, and PT Ctrip Internasional Indonesia. Tourists are advised to have both cash and a bank card on hand — especially when paying fees for island visits and participating in marine activities.
Cash payment is still possible at the moment. However, the authorities plan to fully transition to electronic e-ticketing and e-payment services in the future.
According to Klungkung Regent I Made Satria, switching to an electronic system will make the payment process more transparent and convenient, as well as help direct collected funds more effectively towards regional development. For example, a road is planned to be built between Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong in 2026, which will allow safe travel between attractions.
The fees are: — 25,000 rupiah for adults and 15,000 rupiah for children (tourist fee), — 100,000 rupiah for marine activities in the marine protection zone (snorkeling, diving, freediving, sea tours). For those staying on the island longer, a monthly pass for marine activities is available for 200,000 rupiah. These fees are paid separately and are not included in the Bali tourist tax or visa fee.
When planning a trip to Nusa Penida, Lembongan, or Ceningan, prepare in advance for the new payment system to avoid surprises.

Is the marine protection zone fee still in place? I think it was canceled in 2024.

Thank you for your question. As of now, the marine protection zone fee has been discontinued it was officially canceled in 2024.
Currently, visitors only need to pay the tourist entrance fee, which can now be paid digitally through the new cashless system.
