A venue for engagement parties, small weddings and other private events is being prepared in Nusa Dua.
The Water Blow spot on Peninsula Island is already familiar to many tourists for its powerful waves, which smash against the rocks and throw jets of seawater into the air. The plan is to open the events venue there as early as October: workers are currently finishing off the infrastructure.
The exact opening date, pricing and terms for holding weddings have not been announced yet, although the first event at the venue has already taken place. On September 23, Water Blow was used as a catwalk: collections by seven designers were shown there as part of Bali International Fashion Week. Many guests liked being able not only to watch the show, but also to see the powerful waves.
The wedding venue is just one part of a major overhaul of Peninsula Island. Work to tidy up the area began as part of the biggest redevelopment programme Nusa Dua has seen in 52 years.
The resort complex has been growing since 1973, and the current overhaul is intended to make it more modern and comfortable so that it remains competitive with other international tourist destinations.
Peninsula Island was chosen as one of the first zones for redevelopment. The project covers upgrades to access roads and walkways, landscaping, the construction of a new events stage and improvements to the utilities. Among other things, systems for collecting and absorbing rainwater are being built, while drainage and the wastewater system are being upgraded.
Some of the changes are already visible. On Peninsula Island, the landscaping of the amphitheatre has been fully completed and the area next to the helipad has been paved with stone.
The final result of the work on Peninsula Island is promised in a couple of years.
The Nusa Dua renovation programme is scheduled for 2026–2028.
