New Contemporary Art Center to Open in Nuanu

In 2026, a permanent museum of works by Japanese-American artist Eugene Kangawa will open in Bali's eco-project, Nuanu. He is collaborating on this project of over one hectare with leading Indonesian architect Andra Matin.

The main building (≈ 3000 m²) will feature 15 exhibition halls, a library with a reading room, and a café. The museum is designed not only as an exhibition but also as a venue for lectures, research programs, and public events.
Kangawa creates exhibitions from paintings, objects, sound, and video, exploring themes of love, fate, and death. Key works moving to Nuanu include 'Goldrain' (2019) with 'rain' of gold particles, 'Sea Garden/Critical' (2021) with an infinite sea, and a new installation based on 'enlarged cloud molecules'.
Andra Matin is integrating the museum into the landscape, with daylight entering through a thoughtfully designed system of openings, minimizing artificial lighting.
According to Nuanu founder Sergey Solonin, the project will enhance access to art and art education in Bali. 'Bali is an archipelago of ideas,' adds Kangawa. 'I hope visitors will feel the symbiosis of art, nature, and life.'
The museum will open its doors to local residents at the end of 2025; for the general public in 2026.
