Mastering the Monkeypox (Mpox) Check at Bali Airport: Your Quick Guide

Due to the worsening situation with the monkeypox virus, Indonesia's Ministry of Health has taken measures to protect tourists and the country's population from potential outbreaks. One of these measures includes the mandatory completion of a form with a few simple questions about your health, personal information, and travel details.

So, what should you do to avoid standing at the screening desk after a long flight, clueless about what is being asked of you? Let me tell you upfront that you can indeed fill out this form after arriving by scanning a QR code at one of the screening desks. You won't be able to skip this step, so there's no risk of getting lost while searching for the desk. However, if you want to proceed to the next stage of registration comfortably upon arrival, it is recommended to complete this form before departure. Some airlines even check if you have completed this form during flight check-in. You can fill it out no earlier than three days before your departure.
To do this, you need to access the link https://sshp.kemkes.go.id/ from your phone or computer. The Indonesian health monitoring app, SatuSehat, will also direct you to this website if you have it installed.
You'll be greeted by a clear "START" button on the page. You can select your language on the page, but Russian is not available, so you may want to choose English. There is also a warning that if you fall ill within 21 days after traveling abroad or arriving from countries with an epidemic, you should immediately go to the hospital.
Click "Start."
On the next page, you will need to fill out the following fields using English letters:
- Full name: Your full name (as in your passport).
- Mobile number: Your phone number.
- Passport number: Your passport number.
- Date of arrival: Your arrival date in Indonesia.
- Port of arrival: Your arrival airport, which for Bali will be DPS (I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport).
- Flight number: Your flight number, such as AK320.
- Seat number: Your seat number on the plane.
Next, answer the questions using the yes/no radio buttons:
- Do you have any of the following symptoms: fever, swollen lymph nodes, or skin lesions/rashes?
- Have you had close contact with a person showing symptoms of mpox or with animals such as rodents or primates in the 21 days prior to your arrival in Indonesia?
- Countries of origin, departure, transit, and others that you visited within 21 days before departure to Indonesia (You can select more than one).
The completed form will look something like this:
Once all fields are filled out, enter the captcha to convince the system you're not a robot, and check the box next to "I declare that all the information above is correct."
Click "Submit."
Now, save the QR code that appears on the page. You can keep it on your phone, or just in case, print it out. This option is always more reliable.
The actual screening procedure at the airport is very simple. You join one of the queues after exiting the plane, an airport staff member will scan your QR code, and then you’ll be told you can proceed. That's it—have a pleasant journey!
