Shouting, chaos and a dozen people pushing each other. From the footage now going viral on Balinese social media, it is impossible to tell what sparked the fight on Batu Bolong.
What can be seen, however, is several foreigners hurriedly trying to leave the scene. Their motorbike nearly hits random passers-by. Punches and insults fly after them…

It all started with simple road rage. A group of three tourists on two Nmax scooters, overtaking a Blue Bird taxi, apparently decided to teach the driver a lesson. One of the tourists spat towards the car.
The taxi driver did not take the insult lightly. He hit the accelerator, gave chase for a short distance, sharply cut off the offenders and blocked their way.
CCTV footage shows one of the foreigners, wearing a white T-shirt, getting off the motorbike he smashed the taxi’s rear window and hitting him with full force. The driver immediately jumped out of the car, and a heated verbal exchange began.
The second tourist tried to calm the situation and separate the men, and almost succeeded. The foreigners got back on their scooters and were about to continue on their way. But the taxi driver decided to have the last word. As the motorbike passed him, he struck the passenger in the black T-shirt sharply in the face. The foreigners stopped, and the argument turned into a fight.
Seeing the tourists hitting the driver, ride-hailing drivers and local taxi drivers who were waiting nearby rushed to help their colleague.
Security guards from a nearby café helped prevent more serious consequences. They managed to pull the people involved in the fight apart. After seeing the number of angry Indonesians around them, the tourists hurried away. A little later, the taxi driver also left the scene.
Badung police are still investigating. The people responsible are being identified and, by the looks of it, if the foreigners are found, they could face deportation.
