Bali Airport Fight: Taxi Drivers and Security Guards Brawl

On the evening of Friday, August 22, a conflict broke out between taxi drivers and airport staff in the ground transportation service area of Bali Airport.

The incident went viral: the video shows a security guard and a driver running after each other in the parking lot.
According to airport police representative Ipda I Gede Suka Artana, the conflict began when a group of drivers approached a competing service counter to address the perennial taxi driver question—whose customers are they? Two security guards attempted to intervene, but it only escalated the situation, and a brawl ensued.
The police arrived at the scene around three in the morning. After discussions with taxi drivers, drivers, security guards, airport employees, and the security service, the situation was resolved.
Both injured security guards filed reports with the police, and an investigation is currently underway, with witnesses being interviewed.
Airport director Ahmad Syaugi emphasized that airport operations were not disrupted—flights, passenger services, and transportation functioned normally. He confirmed that the quarrel between the operators escalated into an assault on security staff.
Management clarified that the viral video only shows the final part of the conflict, and the security's actions were a response to aggression from one of the drivers.
"We firmly state: PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia is committed to ensuring airport security and preventing any actions that threaten its operational stability," Syaugi said. He expressed hope that similar incidents will not recur and noted that passengers remain the company's top priority.
Despite measures to regulate greeters and taxi drivers, conflicts in this area continue to arise.
