The GT World Challenge Asia race at the Mandalika Circuit is the result of a collaboration with SRO Motorsports Group. Since 2022, SRO has been assessing the circuit’s readiness before including it in the racing calendar. The other stages of the race take place in Japan, Malaysia, China, and Thailand on well-established and high-quality tracks, so the organizers had to ensure that the Indonesian track met all the high standards in terms of infrastructure, technical conditions, and other key parameters.
The approval of this race in Indonesia confirms that The Mandalika area has strong potential on the global racing scene. Originally, the Mandalika Circuit was designed for two-wheel racing, such as MotoGP and WorldSBK, but the track has now been adapted for car racing with some modifications in specific zones.
SRO Motorsport Asia director Benjamin Franassovici stated that GT World Challenge Asia is now part of the global GT World Challenge series. Since 2017, this race has become Asia’s leading GT3 series.

“The debut of this series in Indonesia will be the first international motorsport event at the Mandalika Circuit. This will elevate Indonesia’s status and strengthen The Mandalika’s potential as a premier racing venue in the region,” he emphasized.
The race will feature 30 GT3 cars from leading teams such as Absolute Racing (Porsche and Lamborghini), Origine Motorsport (China, Porsche), and Phantom Racing (China, Audi and Porsche). Other participants include Plus Racing (Japan, BMW M4 GT3), Climax Racing (Mercedes-AMG GT3), as well as Indonesian drivers Setiawan (Aston Martin) and David Ciptobiantoro (Ferrari).
Organizers are working to ensure the race meets international standards. To achieve this, supporting facilities will be prepared to guarantee the safety and comfort of the drivers and their teams.
For spectators, the goal is to create an unforgettable experience. The event will provide comfortable viewing conditions, easy access to the track, and an exciting atmosphere. A supporting entertainment program is also expected, though details have yet to be announced.
