A cashless parking payment system has been implemented at Kuta Beach. Visitors can now pay for parking using only credit or debit cards. This applies to both motorbikes and cars. In the coming months and years, the transition to cashless systems will increasingly occur in Bali’s most popular tourist destinations and public spaces.
This might not be the happiest news for the countless Balinese parking attendants, but it’s great for tourists—they can now be sure that their hard-earned 2,000–5,000 rupiah won’t end up in questionable hands but will go directly to the island’s treasury.
The new cashless system is being introduced as part of a collaboration between Bank BPD Bali and the Badung Regency government. Now, all revenues are deposited directly into the system, where they are distributed between Kuta Village, which receives 60 percent, and the Badung Regency government.

Badung was recently awarded the title of the best regency in combating corruption by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission. Therefore, the implementation of cashless payments will continue to reduce financial leaks.
Over time, cashless payment systems will become the standard at tourist sites across the island, with more opportunities to book tickets and pay for events and attractions online. However, for now, tourists are still advised to carry cash and small change to pay parking attendants.
