Indonesian Airports Soar into Asia’s Top 10

The Airports Council International (ACI) has announced the 10 best airports based on passenger choice.
In the category of “Best Airport with a capacity of 2 to 5 million passengers,” the winners were Yogyakarta International Airport, Supadio Airport (Pontianak, Kalimantan), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang, Sumatra), and Ahmad Yani Airport (Semarang, Central Java).
Pattimura Airport (Ambon, Maluku) received the award for “Best Airport with a capacity of up to 2 million passengers.”
Juanda Airport (Surabaya, East Java) was awarded as the easiest to use, most convenient, and cleanest airport.
The ACI World Director’s Roll of Excellence Award, received by Juanda and Ahmad Yani Airports, is especially prestigious, as it is given only to airports that have won ASQ (Airport Service Quality) Awards five times within a ten-year period.
Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar (Sulawesi) and SAMS Sepinggan Airport (Balikpapan, Kalimantan) also received awards in the categories of “Most Dedicated Staff,” “Easiest to Use,” “Most Convenient,” “Cleanest,” and “Best Overall ASQ Award” in all five departure categories.
Earlier this year, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) were included in the list of the world’s best airports according to Skytrax.
The airports were selected based on a survey of 13 million air travelers from more than 100 countries, covering 565 airports worldwide between August 2024 and February 2025.
The official award ceremony was held recently at the Skytrax World Airport Awards during the Passenger Terminal Expo 2025 in Madrid, on April 9, 2025.
