
Two major Indonesian airports, Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta and Ngurah Rai in Bali, have been included in the Top 100 Airports in the World list. This ranking was compiled by Skytrax, which evaluated 570 airports globally. Skytrax specializes in aviation research, and its awards are considered among the most prestigious in the industry, making its assessments highly reliable.
A representative of Angkasa Pura Indonesia, the company managing Indonesians major airports, clarified that the ranking is based on passenger feedback and evaluates airports across 44 different criteria. These include factors such as passport control wait times, restroom cleanliness, Wi-Fi quality, and even staff friendliness.
This year, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta secured the 28th spot, a significant jump from 43rd place last year. Meanwhile, Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali ranked 74th, moving six places up from 2023. This indicates continuous improvements in service quality, but also highlights room for further enhancements.
The airport management company has expressed its ambition to further develop these airports, focusing on convenience, new technologies, and service standards, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Top 10.
Since 2024, Ngurah Rai Airport has been undergoing modernization, which is still in progress. Recently, passport control processing times have also been improved, increasing the chances of an even higher ranking in 2025. As the gateway to Bali, the airport plays a crucial role in welcoming and bidding farewell to tourists, shaping their first and last impressions of the island. Ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience remains a top priority for the airports future development.
