Flying to Bali? Don’t Forget to Check Your Email Access

Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has introduced extra security for users of its visa portal. Accessing your account and applying for a visa now requires more than just a username and password — the system also sends a one-time code to the email address you used when registering. The change is intended to protect tourists from account hacking and fraudulent websites.

The authorities explained that this extra verification should keep accounts secure even if a password is leaked. Only the owner of the email inbox linked to the account will be able to access the data.
Password requirements have also changed. Users are advised to use 8 to 12 characters, combine upper- and lower-case letters, numbers and special characters, and regularly update their login details.
Immigration also reminds travellers that they should apply for a visa and use their account only via the official eVisa portal. The authorities warn that some websites pretend to be official government services but collect users’ personal data or charge extra fees.
Tourists are also advised to apply for a visa at least one to two weeks before the trip, use an active email address to receive verification codes, and keep both digital and paper copies of their visa documents.
If you have problems accessing your account or applying for a visa, Immigration recommends contacting them directly through official support channels. For example, you can email one of these addresses:
The new requirements apply to everyone applying for a visa independently via the Immigration website. Those who prefer not to handle the paperwork themselves can use visa specialists. We recommend Legal Indonesia.
