Indonesia Deports Foreigner for Unauthorized Work

A 54-year-old Australian citizen was deported from Indonesia via Ngurah Rai Airport. According to the immigration authorities, the woman, identified by the initials PDN, was managing accommodation in Dompu on the island of Sumbawa, even though her stay permit had been issued as an ITAS Investor.

The deportation order was issued by the Bima Immigration Office in West Nusa Tenggara.
The accommodation was located in the Lakey Beach area of Dompu Regency. According to immigration officials, it had been operating since 2021. The authorities said the foreign national was directly involved in running the business: handling administrative matters, bookings, and communication with guests. Local residents helped with cleaning and service.
The immigration authorities also said they had been monitoring PDN since 2025. At that time, she was added to a list of cases to be checked over suspicions that her stay permit was being used for a purpose other than the one intended. The inspection was not completed earlier because the woman had been outside Indonesia for some time.
After PDN returned, immigration officers carried out an inspection and interviewed her. As a result, the authorities said her activities did not match the purpose for which the ITAS Investor permit had been issued. Immigration officials also said they had found inconsistencies in the information used when the stay permit was processed.
