Two of them had been in prison for theft, and the rest had breached the terms of their stay.
Three of them were living in Bali on investor KITAS permits. A US citizen was working somewhere other than where he was authorized to work and was promoting villas. The other two are from Australia. One of them turned out not to have made the investments he had declared. The other kept running his business even though his license had already been revoked.
A model from Russia had appeared in drinks commercials. In June, 25 foreign photographers were deported from Indonesia, including from Bali, for working on visitor visas.
A DJ from Ukraine performed in Canggu on a transitional permit (bridging visa). It is issued for 60 days to people who are changing their status without leaving Indonesia, for example switching to a KITAS. Immigration deemed the performances illegal work.
An Algerian national had overstayed by 87 days, and another Australian by 78.
In August, a foreigner holding an investor KITAS was deported after he was unable to explain what his company does.
