Bali has abolished the progressive tax scale for cars and motorcycles: now the rate no longer depends on the number of vehicles registered to the owner. At the same time, an amnesty has been introduced, which completely wipes out overdue payments and fines from previous years. All you need to do is pay the current amount for 2025.

In addition to debt elimination, significant discounts have been in effect since January. For vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 200 cm³, the tax has been reduced by 14.35%, and for more powerful engines, by 12.15%. Re-registration of new vehicles has also become cheaper: the BBNKB fee (transfer of vehicle ownership) is now charged only once, and its amount has been reduced by 24%.
If your car or bike is registered in another region, check the local rules:
- In some provinces, like in Bali, it is enough to pay the tax for the current year to write off everything else;
- In others, the progressive scale has been abolished and the payment amount is fixed regardless of the number of vehicles per person.
As of June 2025, no fewer than twelve provinces are participating in the program, but in some of them, the benefits are effective only until the end of the month. To not miss out, it is advisable to check the deadlines and rates at your local Samsat office (the center for all vehicle operations in Indonesia) in advance.
