Bali remains the most popular destination among Indonesia's 17,000 islands, but to boost its development, the authorities are ready to impose stricter conditions for visitors.

Indonesia's Minister of Tourism, Vidyanti Putri Vardana, discussed the new measures with Governor Wayan Koster and confirmed that the ministry will support the "Bali 100-Year Development Guide" (Law No. 15/2023), prepared by Koster and approved by former President Megawati Sukarnoputri.
The strategy shifts the island towards a model of "quality and cultural tourism." Travelers who respect Balinese nature and traditions and are prepared to financially support the local community will be welcomed.
Main entry changes:
- mandatory proof of financial capability;
- return ticket;
- paid Love Bali tourist levy.
These requirements already exist but are checked selectively. Koster intends to make checks mandatory for everyone before granting entry rights.
Minister Vardana also supported major infrastructure projects: a city railway, an international airport in the north of the island, and a medical special economic zone in Sanur, which is already operational. It is expected that along with stricter control, these initiatives will help preserve Bali's ecological and cultural heritage and ensure sustainable tourism growth.
