The popular low-cost airline AirAsia is set to launch a new flight route between Denpasar (Bali) and Darwin (Australia) starting March 22, 2025.
Flights will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays:
✈ Denpasar – Darwin: 11:40 AM - 3:55 PM
✈ Darwin – Denpasar: 4:35 PM - 5:55 PM
Bali is now the largest transit hub in the region, driven by high demand for international travel. The new direct flights will provide excellent low-cost connections to more than 130 AirAsia Group destinations, including Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Komodo Island (Labuan Bajo), and Singapore.
Passengers flying from Darwin will benefit from convenient transfers through Bali’s international airport, making it easier and more affordable to explore some of Indonesia’s most breathtaking destinations. From national parks to vibrant local culture, travelers will have access to incredible adventures at a budget-friendly price.
💰 Ticket prices will start at just AUD 189.
There is significant demand for Bali-bound travel from Darwin, as Bali has long been a favorite getaway for Australian tourists. These new flights are expected to further boost tourism from Australia.
There is a high probability that this route will be a long-term success for AirAsia. However, recent industry trends highlight potential challenges—Batik Air was forced to cancel its Canberra-Bali route in October 2024, just months after its launch.
In 2025, Australian tourists are expected to remain the top international visitors to Bali. Currently, Bali’s airport handles an average of 40 flights per day to and from Australia.
This week, Bali Airport officially closed the Nataru (Christmas and New Year) holiday season, which traditionally marks the beginning of Bali’s low season. The next peak travel period is expected during the Eid al-Fitr holidays on March 30-31, 2025.
