Indonesia AirAsia has announced the suspension of two direct international routes between Bali and Australia starting 19 June.
The affected services are:
- Denpasar–Melbourne
- Denpasar–Adelaide
According to the airline’s schedule, the final flights departing from Denpasar to Melbourne and Adelaide will operate on 17 June, while the last return flights from both Australian cities to Bali are scheduled for 18 June.
The company said the decision was due to rising global jet fuel prices caused by instability in the Middle East. AirAsia stated that, under the current conditions, these routes have become commercially unviable.
Passengers affected by the cancellations will be contacted directly. According to AirAsia, they will be offered options including changing the travel date, a refund, credit for future travel or, where available, flying via AirAsia’s hub in Kuala Lumpur. For passengers departing from Melbourne, the airline separately highlights the option of travelling to Bali via Kuala Lumpur.
Both routes were relatively new to AirAsia’s network. Direct Denpasar–Adelaide flights were launched in June 2025. The Bali–Melbourne service started in March 2026 and was expected to add more than 130,000 seats a year on this route. The company says it may return to these routes if market conditions change.
