Air New Zealand is planning a direct flight to Bali from Christchurch, the largest city on New Zealand's South Island.

The flights are expected to run three times a week during the New Zealand winter of 2027, until the end of August. The route still needs approval from aviation authorities and airports.
The date of the first flight, the schedule and fares have not yet been announced. Tickets are expected to go on sale before the end of this year.
At the moment, the airline's only direct flights to Bali are from Auckland, and they are also seasonal. The flight takes about nine and a half hours.
The airline describes Bali as one of New Zealanders' favourite holiday destinations. For now, travellers from the South Island have to make connections to get here. Christchurch Airport expects the direct route to make the journey easier for tourists heading there as well.

Air New Zealand has decided to run its Christchurch–Singapore flight year-round, although it was originally planned as a seasonal service. The first flight there has already departed. During the rest of the year, travellers will be able to get from Bali to the South Island with a connection in Singapore.
