Four Days of Music and Street Food Take Over Klungkung

One of the island’s brightest festivals is kicking off in Semarapura. From 28 April to 1 May, the city centre turns into a large open-air venue with concerts, food, local brands and a lively street atmosphere. Best of all, entry is free and open to everyone.

The festival takes place in central Semarapura, around the main Alun-Alun square and the surrounding streets. In 2026, it has once again been included in Indonesia’s national events calendar, so the scale and programme are bigger.
You can come on any of the four days: all the venues are close together, and the main spots are within walking distance. Mornings feature calmer activities and exhibitions, daytime brings street markets with food and goods, and in the evening the shows and concerts begin.
28 April is the best day if you want to see as much as possible right away. The official opening starts at 16:00 with performances by local artists. In the evening, the main stage will host traditional theatre and live concerts running late into the night.
29 April is a good fit if you’re after a more relaxed format. In the morning there will be a job fair, yoga during the day, and in the evening the final of a local competition and a concert.
30 April is dedicated to traditions and local culture. In the morning they will show a rare practice—writing on palm leaves; during the day there will be an ogoh-ogoh figure competition, and in the evening there will be musical and vocal performances, including a gamelan orchestra.
1 May is the lightest and most entertainment-focused day. In the morning there will be a mass walk; in the evening—zumba, open activities and the final concerts. The festival closing and a concert by the popular local rock band Lolot Band are expected to draw the biggest crowd.
In addition, a large market with food and craft goods will be open every day from 09:00. Exhibitions start from 10:00, including mini versions of ogoh-ogoh and traditional kris daggers. From 29 April, there will also be a car show and Balinese-style painting workshops.
Every evening from 17:00, the smaller stage in the square starts up. Local bands perform there, and the programme runs into the night without a strict timetable.
The event budget is around 1.3 billion rupiah. Local authorities hope it will attract new visitors and help develop this area, which is still not among the most popular with tourists.
