New Rules and Fees for Rinjani Visitors from November

On November 3, 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry's decree No. 17/2025 comes into effect. It updates the fees for visiting Rinjani National Park on Lombok and introduces unified trekking requirements.
According to the park administration, the price changes are due to route modernization and infrastructure improvements. The cost depends on the trail category:
  • Class 1 (main trails — Sembalun, Senaru, Torean):
    • Foreign visitors — Rp 250,000 per day.
    • Indonesian citizens — Rp 50,000 on weekdays / Rp 75,000 on holidays.
  • Class 2 (Timbuh, Tetebatu, Aik Berik):
    • Foreign visitors — Rp 200,000.
    • Indonesian citizens — Rp 20,000–30,000.
  • Class 3 (non-ascending facilities — waterfalls, lakes, viewpoints, etc.):
    • Foreign visitors — Rp 150,000.
    • Indonesian citizens — Rp 10,000–15,000.
Tickets are now sold only through the official app. MyBaliTrips handles ticket processing, transfers around Lombok, tents and equipment, porter and guide services, and also provides information on medical check-ups and insurance purchase. This is convenient if you don't want to manage the details yourself.
Route Difficulty and Preparation The Rinjani routes are classified as Grade IV difficulty, which requires proven mountain hiking experience. This can be demonstrated with photos, social media posts, or a certificate from another mountain administration. Before starting, you must:
• undergo a medical check-up no later than one day before departure;
• complete a fitness test;
• obtain insurance covering helicopter evacuation (which will eventually become mandatory). An electronic 'mountain climber certificate' will also be introduced to confirm experience.
A pilot online tracking system will be launched at Rinjani: participants will be displayed in the app via GPS beacon signals, simplifying rescue operations in emergencies. This initiative aims to enhance the safety of visiting national parks.
