According to the police, Lamken was riding with his companion, Courtney Lynn Robertson. Allegedly, he took the turn too wide into the oncoming lane and could not avoid the collision with the car approaching.
From the impact, the scooter and both passengers fell onto the road. Lamken suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and died at Ari Canti Hospital in Ubud. The passenger survived with a broken arm, bruises, and wounds on her face and leg. She is undergoing treatment at Kenak Medika Ubud clinic. The car driver was not injured.
Witnesses claim that the tourist rode unsteadily and possibly had limited experience operating a bike. The Gianyar police have detained the car driver and are conducting an investigation.
