A German tourist has died in Lombok after his motorbike was struck by a pickup truck. The vehicle was driven by a foreign national and had two passengers on board.

The crash happened on Thursday, 8 October, at around 10:45 in Kuta, at the roundabout near the Novotel hotel, where a road leads to the western car park of the Mandalika circuit. The Nissan Navara pickup and the Honda Vario motorbike were travelling in the same direction, from west to east, when the pickup hit the bike from behind.
The tourist was dragged as far as a coconut palm on the median, while the pickup overturned and crashed into a lamp post. He was taken to a clinic in Kuta, but he could not be saved.
His body was taken to a hospital in Mataram, where it will remain until his relatives decide how to send it home. The pickup's driver and passengers were taken to Mandalika Hospital with injuries.
