Russian citizen V.M., 32, and her three children were forcibly deported to Russia due to an expired visa, according to details shared by the immigration service.
The woman first arrived in Bali in 2018 with one child. She extended her visa once but failed to renew it after it expired in early July of that same year. When apprehended, V.M. could not provide any documents, stating that her old passport had been handed over to the embassy and her new one was lost.
During her illegal stay in Bali, V.M. had two more children. Authorities revealed that she was in a relationship with another Russian citizen during this time. V.M. cited family conflicts as the reason for her overstay.
Throughout her six years of overstaying, V.M. did not work, as her mother supported her with financial transfers from Russia. Eventually, in October this year, V.M. voluntarily surrendered to the immigration authorities, admitting that she had previously been afraid of the legal consequences.
V.M. was charged under Article 78, Paragraph 3 of the Immigration Law, which states that foreigners who overstay their visa by more than 60 days must be deported. She and her children were placed in a detention center until they could secure tickets and leave the country.
Pramela Yunidar Pasaribu, head of Bali’s Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, announced that Ngurah Rai Immigration proposed adding V.M. to the blacklist under Article 102 of Law No. 6 of 2011. This entry ban lasts six months but may be extended depending on further review by the Immigration Office.
